It's looking at your wedding gallery and film for the first time and knowing that the images capture people's souls. It's never understanding how beautiful you are until you can see yourself fully, completely immersed in all of the little moments on your wedding day.

Kendel + Masay – Dead Horse Point State Park, Moab, Utah

Whether you’re at a desert wedding or not, most photographers love shooting during two times of the day.

One is the hour after sunset and the other is the hour before sunrise – both are referred to as “golden hour.”

Don’t get me wrong, you can get gorgeous photos in all different types of light if you know how to work with it, but there’s just something about watching the sun crest the mountains and drench the sky with that gorgeous golden light.

About This Desert Wedding Shoot…

The theme of this shoot was badass cowboy. (Excuse my language.) Really though, that’s the best way to describe the boho western flair of this elopement!

Kendel + Masay both sported Gigi Pip hats for this desert wedding. Masay had a laid back groom’s style consisting of mostly black, a sweater, boots and bolo tie. Kendel paired white boots with a fringe Daci Gowns‘ dress.

At the altar, there were layers of vintage rugs from The Boheme Project.

Color palettes for a desert-inspired wedding often go one of two ways: bold and colorful or warm and dusky, sometimes even converging the two. Many come with boho or tribal touches, such as Navajo patterns, Moroccan cushion seating, or eclectic textiles. Others showcase a southwestern flair, incorporating elements such as longhorn skulls or leather accents. And there are always geodes, agates, and gemstones for earthy touches.
