Elevate Your Wedding Aesthetic

Planning your dream wedding and hoping to create an unforgettable atmosphere? As a wedding photographer with a keen eye for detail, I’ve got some fantastic decor tips to make your special day truly remarkable.

But let me preface this post by saying that if you truly don’t want to splurge on these items, it’s your wedding! What’s right for me, may not be right for you.

Alright now let’s dive into some of the decor mistakes I see most often that will affect your photos!

Don’t Skimp on Flowers.

Flowers are the heart and soul of wedding decor. They bring life, color, and fragrance to your venue. Don’t be afraid to splurge on beautiful blooms that suit your style and theme. From bouquets to centerpieces, flowers can transform any space into a magical fairytale.

Current trends that I’m a big fan of are floral lined curvy aisles and hanging upside down flower stem installations. Let’s be real though, I’m here for any an all floral installs!

And when it comes to photographing your wedding, let me tell you, real flowers from a talented florist look absolutely stunning! They bring an unmatched natural beauty that you just can’t replicate with fake ones or handmade bouquets. Real flowers have this magical quality that adds depth and dimension to your photos. They catch the light in a way that fake flowers just can’t, and their delicate movements and interactions with the surroundings create a truly captivating scene. Trust me, choosing real flowers for your big day will ensure that your photographs are filled with the enchantment and beauty of nature.

Say “No” to Plastic Chairs and Tables.

While it may be tempting to cut corners and save on costs, avoid using plastic chairs and low-quality tablecloths that can cheapen the overall ambiance. Opt for elegant and comfortable chair options, such as wooden or modern chairs. Steer clear of those plastic eyesores!

As for tablecloths, I typically recommend no linens, but if you do use them, choose high-quality linens that elevate the sophistication of your tablescape. However, I must make an exception for a fun silky floral print tablecloth, as it can add a playful touch to the decor.

Venue Matters.

Your venue sets the stage for your entire wedding aesthetic. It’s the largest canvas for your decor vision. When choosing a venue, consider the aesthetic appeal it offers. Look for unique and non-traditional options, such as Airbnb rentals, a cabin, charming backyard gardens, or even national parks. These venues can add a distinctive charm and create a memorable experience for you and your guests.

Do Choose a Theme You Love… Not Just What’s Trendy Now.

When it comes to choosing a wedding theme, it’s important to consider something that truly resonates with you as a couple, rather than simply following the latest trends. While it can be tempting to go for a theme that’s currently popular, keep in mind that trends change over time, and what may be fashionable now might not be your favorite by the time your wedding day approaches a year from now.

Instead, opt for a unique and personal theme that reflects your personalities and style. This way, you can create an unforgettable wedding that feels genuine and timeless, regardless of the shifting trends. After all, your wedding should be a celebration of your love, and choosing a theme that is meaningful to you will ensure that it stays beautiful and cherished in your hearts for years to come.

Prioritize Aesthetic Appeal.

When planning your wedding decor, remember that every aspect matters. From lighting choices to table arrangements, aim for a cohesive and visually pleasing design. Pay attention to the small details – they can make a big difference in the overall look and feel of your celebration.

But remember, aesthetic doesn’t have to mean expensive. You can cut costs by downsizing, looking into alternative options for venues like I mentioned above and skipping the wedding favors, programs, or things that tend to get overlooked and thrown out after a wedding day.

Create a Personalized Experience.

Infuse your wedding decor with personal touches that reflect your love story and personalities. Incorporate elements such as framed photographs or polaroids, handwritten love notes, or meaningful mementos. These personal details will make your special day truly unique.

Lighting Magic.

Good lighting can transform any space into a romantic haven. Experiment with different lighting options, such as twinkling string lights, elegant chandeliers, or soft candlelight. Create a warm and inviting atmosphere that adds depth and enhances the overall ambiance.

Think Outside the Box.

Don’t be afraid to get creative and think outside the box when planning your wedding decor. Incorporate unique elements like vintage furniture, custom-made signage, or unexpected color combinations. Let your imagination run wild and let your personalities shine through.

Remember, creating a visually stunning wedding is all about balance and personalization. Think about what aligns with your style, and don’t forget to consider the comfort of your guests. With these decor tips in mind, you’ll be well on your way to planning a wedding that you and your loved ones will cherish forever.
